Five good reasons to talk to a consultant

Early on in my carrer as a consultant I sat accross from a very shrewd, straight-shooting business person. For some reason he had agreed to take the meeting. After introductions and no small talk he sat back and asked me, "So what the hell can you do for me?"

I must say, I was somewhat taken aback, but having had my share of business encounters over the years, I paused for a second, leaned forward and answered, "I can see things that you can't or don't want to". I then went on to point out a few things I noticed on the way up to the meeting room, through the warehouse. Inefficiencies, behaviours, from the receptionist to two workers having an arguement in plain sight. I said that he obviously follows the same route every day, but for some reason doesn't register the things I did. As a consultant. I then said "Why the hell don't you fix them?". As I was preparing my thanks for the coffee speech, he burst out laghing, as only heavy smokers can. It was the beginning of a wonderful working and personal relationship.

So why the hell should you hire a consultant (worth their pay)?

1. You want a fresh set of eyes on the business

When you're too close, you lose perspective. A consultant worth their salt are your objective mirror—they question the unquestioned, challenge your assumptions, and zero in on what's broken before it blows up. They have seen it before in multiple environments. In the case of our team, we have dealt with it as managers.

2. You need system over guesswork

Relying on gut feel? That won’t cut it for long. We bring proven methodologies—root cause analysis, lean systems, strategic clarity—to guide you toward solutions that stick.

3. You’re short on time but not ambition

You're ambitious—good. But ambition without execution is delusion. A consultant should deliver a high-impact intervention: workshop, training, strategy sprint—designed to launch movement within weeks, that will spark the way forward. They should be prepared to get down in the trenches with you.

4. You need real accountability

Feel like nothing’s sticking to your team? A consultant's collaborative style brings accountability—not only from them, but from the leadership and teams that must follow through. That’s when change actually happens.

5. Your strategy needs more than lip service

No more fancy PowerPoints with zero follow-through. We work with you to define strategic goals that connect daily operations with measurable outcomes aimed at achieving operational excellence—then coach your teams to make it happen.

So why not reach out. The first meeting's on us.
